We need your help! In order to meet some of our school’s needs, the Cougar Valley Parent Teacher Association, or PTA, rallies to help provide support in areas such as classroom technology, library selection and testing, school assemblies, classroom supplies and enrichments, and so much more, all of which benefit the school itself—but most importantly our kids.
This year we opted to not do the “traditional fundraiser”, where only a small portion of the funds raised benefitted our school and the majority of the funds went back to the partnering organization. In talking to Cougar Valley families who participated in years past, we found that the majority who purchased items such as cookie dough or gift wrap, did so to support the school—not because they were in need of the items that they bought. Further research lead us to discover a donation drive program, that has proven to be more successful in many similar communities. Rather than just receiving a small portion of the funds raised, all of the funds raised in our “Watch Us Grow: INVEST” campaign, go directly to our school’s PTA efforts. In other words - every dollar benefits our kids! These funds allow us to continue to provide and support important Cougar Valley Elementary programs and events throughout the year. Additionally, your donations are tax deductible!
Our goal is to reach $25,000 by the end of the school year. While this is a lot of money, it is actually less than the total collected in just the month of October 2013 for the cookie dough catalog fundraiser. *The difference is that only 40% of what was raised last year went to our PTA, and therefore, to our school.
To date, we have received $5,121.00 in donations, or about 20% of our goal —all of which benefits our kids. But, we still have $19,879 to go. We need everyone’s help to reach this important goal.
Cougar Valley Elementary is known as one of the strongest community supported schools in our district—thanks to your efforts! We have high hopes that we will achieve our goal of $25,000 by the end of the school year. To encourage student involvement, we have obtained many prizes (mostly donations) to give to the students for their efforts; including the grand prize - an iPAD MINI! The date of our Family Fun Night event, where the prize drawing will occur, had to be moved later into December than we’d originally planned. Therefore, we are able to extend the deadline for students to return their packets (or receive online donations) and still qualify for the prize drawing. Donations received through December 10th are now eligible for the book fair certificates (redeemable at our spring book fair) and many other fun prizes.
The drawing winners will be announced at Family Fun Night, on December 17th. So...if your student did not have a chance to ask friends and family to support them with a donation, there is still time!! Please consider helping us achieve our goal so that we can support our school! Thank you
